May Programming

April 29, 2025

There will be a subtle shift in at least one or two workouts per week in May. CrossFit is classed as concurrent, or even hybrid training, in that we often ask you to work on strength pieces as well as cardio and engine work within the same session. While concurrent training drives overall strength and fitness, if we want to truly maximise either element we must occasionally dedicate an entire session to one or the other. With this in mind there will be at least one ‘Strength’ session per week, and in most weeks you will also find a pure ‘engine; session. You will then see plenty of your typical mixed modality sessions for the remainder of the time. This approach will allow us to not only get fitter, stronger, and more adaptable, but will provide us a space to really dig deep and push hard on each individual element. Don’t worry this doesn’t mean you will be coming in just to squat, or tackle a build class in CrossFit. You will simply gain the opportunity to really push each element of your fitness with a little more clarity and focus.

For Oly Lifting, we will focus on Skill and technique and continue to provide you the opportunity to tackle some Oly ‘WODs’. The goal here is to increase your strength, hits new 1RM’s but also improve our efficiency and Barbell cycling.

For Build we enter a new 12 weeks cycle. The first 4 weeks of the cycle you will see a lot of unilateral work. We will have more work focusing on using a single leg/arm, more focus on balance, position, and mobility within our strength work.

Sweat will be spicy, focus on moving with speed and accuracy and will really ask you to dig deep into your energy reserves pushing the heart and lungs and driving overall health and fitness.

Lastly gymnastics will have some specific focuses for 8 sessions at a time before moving on to the next. For the last part of April and early May the focus is the rings. We then move into 8 sessions on inversion, and then onto the rig and kipping in particular.

April provided us the opportunity to tackle quite a few long workouts. Build upon our strength particularly focusing on the Squat and Deadlift. May will be a new challenge where we will ask you to keep pushing hard in your sessions, moving as well as you can, and trying to exceed your previous strength and fitness levels. The best part is that your amazing coaching team will be there to support you the whole way through!!!

Love the Journey!
